Big Shed Repairs (September - November, 2005)

Fixing up the big shed behind the Decatur house.

• Attaching A-frame scaffolding sections to big shed gambrel roof
• Shingles not bad on top section, but ridge vent is "kaput"
• Old ridge vent and ridge cap shingles removed
• Starting to install the new Cobra Vent
• Vent and covering ridge shingles done
• Interlude: see Front Walkway
• New pressure-treated stairs, front and side, and new side door
• Cutting out rotted bottom foot of siding
• Replaced with pressure-treated half-inch plywood
• Front doors "before"
• New front doors, installed but not yet painted
• Doors painted, mini-"roof" installed over front doors
• Scaffolding set up, half the old shingles removed (no roofing felt!)
• Drip edge, roofing felt, and half shingled
• Roof done, scaffolding dismantled
• Excavating outside the back wall to eliminate ground contact
• A "sort of" retaining wall ...
  made from old concrete pavers, some pipe, and 2 bags of concrete
• Pressure-treated lattice installed
